The North Coast Courier Bursary scheme is open to application from orphans or young adults from vulnerable backgrounds.
Bursary Criteria
The following criteria needs to be met:
Have achieved a matric pass appropriate to the field of study
Have gained admission to a tertiary institution.
Be under the age of 30
Be planning to study in a field which offers good job prospects (eg – teacher, lawyer, engineer)
Universities
For university entrance the applicant will preferably need:
To have applied for and qualified for NSFAS
Have gained admission
The Fund will then pay residence fees (where appropriate – NSFAS extends to residence at UKZN, but not at Zululand) and a food/travel allowance plus books.
Soft Loan
With some courses the Fund will offer the bursary as a soft loan repayable over a number of years interest free. The student must undertake to:
