North Coast Courier Bursary scheme


The North Coast Courier Bursary scheme is open to application from orphans or young adults from vulnerable backgrounds.

Bursary Criteria

The following criteria needs to be met:

  • Have achieved a matric pass appropriate to the field of study
  • Have gained admission to a tertiary institution.
  • Be under the age of 30
  • Be planning to study in a field which offers good job prospects (eg – teacher, lawyer, engineer)


For university entrance the applicant will preferably need:

  • To have applied for and qualified for NSFAS
  • Have gained admission
  • The Fund will then pay residence fees (where appropriate – NSFAS extends to residence at UKZN, but not at Zululand) and a food/travel allowance plus books.

Soft Loan

With some courses the Fund will offer the bursary as a soft loan repayable over a number of years interest free. The student must undertake to:

  • Attend all lectures
  • Complete all assignments on time
